Relax, slow down and discover small town America at its best.

William Penn established Chester County in 1682 as one of the first three counties in Pennsylvania; West Chester is the county seat. Other historic towns in Chester County include Kennett Square and Phoenixville. Each has its own unique agricultural, revolutionary and industrial histories. Phoenixville boasts America's earliest iron and steel forges. Kennett Square paved the way for the mushroom farming business dating to 1885, and is now considered the undisputed "Mushroom Capital of the World."

The three towns are also known for their world-class attractions. Kennett Square is home to Longwood Gardens, the world's premier horticultural display garden on 1,050 acres offering 40 indoor and outdoor gardens, a breathtaking conservatory and spectacular illuminated fountains and fireworks. Phoenixville boasts the Colonial Theatre, opened in 1903 and featured in the science fiction classic "The Blob" starring Steve McQueen. QVC, the country's pre-eminent electronic retailer, is located in West Chester and their studio tour provides a unique look at the world of live television broadcasting. All three towns are filled with wonderful history and attractions, but another common thread is an infrastructure of charming and vibrant Main Streets. These "Main Streets of the Brandywine Valley" are treasures of a time gone by, with lovely tree-lined streets filled with restaurants, shops, galleries, markets, festivals and more.
