The 32nd Annual Travel & Tourism Legislative Dinner

Tuesday, March 13 marks the 32nd annual Travel & Tourism legislative dinner sponsored by the Pennsylvania Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.The event, held at the Harrisburg Hilton, is designed to thank our legislators for their support of the tourism industry and to lobby for continued funding. The reception begins at 6:00 PM with dinner at 7:00 PM. Visitors Bureau staff Jesse Walters, President; Greg Edevane, Vice President, Sales and Marketing; Nina Kelly, Director of Communications and Pam Baffoni, Sales Manager will attend. CCCVB board vice-chair Michelle Jennings, CTIS, Longwood Gardens and board member Tom Basol, The Inn at Chester Springs will also be in attendance. Last year we hosted State Representatives Stephen Barrar, Art Hershey, Tom Killion and Carole Rubley, as well as State Senator Ted Erikson. Barrels on the Brandywine was the topic of an interview conducted recently at the Chaddsford and Folly HIll Wineries.  Helen Hwang, on assignment for the Philadelphia Inquirer, is highlighting the event for an article slated to run in early March.  Helen met with both Lee Miller of the Chaddsford WInery and Glen Sowers of Folly Hill Vineyards.  These wineries, along with Kreutz Creek, Paradocx, Twin Brook and Va La make up the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail.  Barrels on the Brandywine is a month long event during weekends in March sponsored by the Wine Trail .The wineries will feature tastings of the brand new developing vintage in barrels, pruning demonstrations, seminars, classes and more. Welcome to new board member - Katie Decker - The Chester County Conference & Visitors Bureau is proud to announce the addition of Katie Decker to our board of directors.  Katie comes to the board from DNB First, where she works in the business development office. She has been in the banking industry for over five years.  Katie grew up and was educated in Bucks County.  She studied Political Science and is active as a committee-woman in her community.  She also volunteers her time as a Girl Scout leader for a troop in West Chester. Katie loves calling Chester County home.  The entire Visitors Bureau staff and board welcome Katie and look forward to working with her.

 

Members achieve special tourism certification-

 

Doug Eppler, Winterthur Museum & Country Estate and Michelle Jennings, Longwood Gardens, Vice-Chair CCCVB board, were recognized during the recent American Bus Association Convention in Grapevine, Texas for their achievement as Certified Travel Industry Specialists (CTIS).

Travel Industry Specialist certification is an avenue for enhancing members’ professionalism and boosting confidence in their businesses by motorcoach travelers and the industry. American Bus Association's CTIS program offers continuing education through Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis to sharpen and enhance members' professional skills. It's the only university-administered certification program in the group travel industry. Congratulations to Doug and Michelle for this professional achievement.
