Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau Foundation awards 14th round of grants

The Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau Foundation awarded over $300,000 in Tourism Grants in the 14th round of the Visitors Bureau Foundation Grant Program. Introduced in October 2000, the Tourism Grant Program awards funds to non-profit Chester County attractions and organizations for capital projects, events and marketing plans aimed at attracting visitors from outside the county. The Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau Foundation administers the program with a specially appointed committee which considers the applications, drawing primarily from county hotel tax proceeds.  To date over four million dollars has been granted in support of Chester County Tourism.

Capital projects are vital to the infrastructure of tourism in Chester County. A total of four capital grants were awarded. Two such grants, recommended in this round, were to help preserve the Graystone Mansion in Coatesville and the Oakbourne Mansion in Westtown. Five event grants were awarded; events to be supported by the grant program include, An Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration in West Chester and a concert series in West Whiteland Township.  Five marketing projects were also recommended supporting such projects as West Chester Cycling Classic’s Iron Hill Twilight Criterium and Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance.
